Following on from my last post about the really excellent XSitePro templates I found online, I just wanted to share with you my renewed interest in the brilliant XSitePro2 product because if you’re not yet an owner of the program, then as an internet marketer I would strongly urge you to take a look at it for all your website creation needs and I’ll tell you why…..
To be honest and maybe you can identify with this yourself, I bought XSitePro v1.0 a few years ago and didn’t really use it that much at the time yet I still paid another $100 for the upgrade to v2.0 when it came out but still I did nothing with this program as I’d been using Dreamweaver and couldn’t ‘get round’ to learning this new product. You know how it is,right? You’re so used to using one program and just figure you don’t have time to learn a new one just at the minute, but that minute turns into days, weeks, months and in my case….years. Yes, that’s right; I’ve had this program for years and done virtually nothing with it. Shameful I know.
What got me started on it again was I was having a little play with it and thinking God, these templates supplied with the program are a bit, well…..stale…samey? Like, you could tell a lot of sites on the net were created with this program as they all looked very similar so I started searching on Google to see what else was available just out of curiosity…
Well that’s when I came across xsiteprotemplates.net and thought, wow…these are really cool and not even expensive to buy ‘off the peg’ sets if you check out their site. Now I had a good reason to go back to my XSitePro and learn this program properly so I took a day out to do it while the missus was out shopping and boy was I totally AMAZED at what this puppy can do and with such ease as well for ‘non-techy’ types. Point, click, insert, OK….DONE! That’s about as complicated as it gets for the majority of tasks you’re likly to do.
XSitePro really is a dream piece of software and I’m really regretting not getting to grips with it sooner than I have. I can’t tell you how much time and effort I put into learning CSS and HTML and then the Dreamweaver program itself, when this program can do everything you need to get done as an internet marketer and more without writing a single piece of code; it’s all done in the background for you.
Inserting audio and video is so simple; right-click where you want it on your page, ‘Insert Video’, select the video file from your hard drive, the size and quality you want it to display…..that’s it done and the same for an audio player. Everything you want to do is that easy or easier, inserting text boxes, affiliate links, images, RSS feeds and autoresponder forms is a breeze.
If I have one slight negative about the autoresponder insertion, it would be that my service ImnicaMail, is not in the list of services within the program but in fairness to the developers at Intellimon, it’s not reasonable to expect every service to be listed there. That’s still not a problem though as you can drop your service’s HTML form code into the source by switching from ‘Design’ to ‘Source’ view so those that still like to mess about with the HTML source code can do so to their heart’s content.
I must have been a big fan of Paul Smithson’s products as I bought XHeaderPro and XCommentPro as well some while back. XHeader allows you to create your own header graphics (what a surprise!) for use with either XSitePro or else it can be saved as a .gif or .jpg for use in other programs. I think you can still get the standard XHeader for free but if you want the full 5,000 themed pre-made header graphics that come with the program then you’ll need to buy the Pro version.
XCommentPro is a bolt-on commenting program to XSitePro that basically emulates the commenting systems found on many content management systems such as this WordPress blog, i.e. it allows visitors to comment on articles, posts, etc. and rate them with the usual five star system. Comments can be set to ‘dofollow’, ‘nofollow’ and you can moderate them before they’re published on your blog or require user registration first with or without captcha; it’s a very capable program and I’m even thinking of trying it out in conjunction with XSitePro as a blog replacement. I’ll keep you posted on that.
….and while I’m expounding the virtues of Intellimon’s software, I might as well mention their final product The Complete Guide To Website Building. Now to be fair to you my readers, I do not own this, nor have I seen anything of it other than the sales page so unlike the XSitePro, XHeaderPro and XCommentPro products which I do own and now use, I can’t recommend this either way but if any of you are familiar with Paul Smithson and his team, you’ll know that they do not turn out rubbish, far from it so I expect this course is every bit as good and comprehensive as the sales page says it is and I’ve no doubt that the testimonials there are real so judge for yourself.
It looks like this is geared to building sites with XSitePro only and it is something that I’ll put on my wish list. I could be wrong but if you’re thinking of buying this tutorial program and you don’t own XSitePro, it might be worth checking that out before you part with your hard-earned thinking that it’s some kind of generic web building tutorial.
If anyone has done this course talready hen please comment as to what you thought of it as that will be very useful for the rest of us to learn from and if you were thinking of taking up web design as a career change or another web profit stream then I’m sure this is a very detailed and comprehensive course that together with XSitePro and some clever custom designed XSitePro templates from Paul would get you well on your way.
I’ll leave it at that; until next time……
