Using WordPress Themes To Create A Membership Site

Hello everybody and welcome to another installment of this blog and what I’m researching at the moment is the possibility of using WordPress themes, either paid or free, as a means of creating a secure membership site where you can put valuable content for your members and most importantly, be able to have it automatically drip-fed to those members’ each month after verifying that they have indeed paid for it first.

If anyone has already setup such a site, I’d really love to hear your comments as to how easy it was, which theme you decided to go for in the end and why you came to that decision. I’ve looked around a lot myself and it can seem pretty confusing as to which is the best and most cost-effective option for your situation and a lot of these membership scripts and themes are not cheap. As an average price, you’re looking at around $300 for the more well-known ones like Digital Access Pass, WishList Member, AMember Pro, Magic Members, OptimizePress, etc. There are some cheaper alternatives such as DLGuard at around $150 but although that protects your content, it isn’t designed to drip feed it to your members and these days, that’s what most people want.

If you wanted to move away from a blog or have a regular non-Wordpress site then I found an excellent alternative in 90 Second Website Builder and the developer Greg Hughes, is super-helpful and quick when it comes to answering pre-sales questions. His video tutorials on how to use the program are second-to-none and he goes into great detail about how to setup a membership site using 90 Second Website Builder and a MySQL database. If that’s too techie for some people then Welly Mulia’s Profits Theme for WordPress is a very viable alternative to any of those I’ve already mentioned above as it has a built-in protected membership function, something that WishList Member and OptimizePress do not. With both of those, you still need to find a way to protect the content, obviously at extra cost to the theme itself. Not ideal.

So after a lot of research and investigation, this is the one I’m going to play around with for a bit mainly because it has the membership function built right into the theme plus it can also generate sales pages, optin pages and all the other types of page you need for an internet marketing website and it’s no more expensive than some of its’ rivals. I’ll keep you posted how I get on with it but I’d love to hear from anyone who’s maybe using this theme already or a different theme or membership script that can drip-feed content so please do comment. Hello everyone, today I have some shameless self-promotion for you but as it is my FIRST since I started this blog years ago so I hope you’ll indulge me!

I’ve been kind of quiet on the blogging front recently as I’ve been working really hard with my good friend Lisa Hernandez from the Partnership To Success program on our latest and very cool project, NonstoPinterest. Yes, the ‘invitation only’ Pinterest site of course and in case you’re not aware, it’s just about the most talked about, sizzling hot social network on the planet right now. Now I don’t mind admitting, unlike Lisa, I’m no social nut. I don’t really see the point of Twitter. Once you start following a few people, your stream or wall or whatever it is, just scrolls and endlessly scrolls with new content, page after page and I’ve never opened one of those short URL’s, so who actually would read your marketing tweets? I have tried it but have had very little joy out of using Twitter as a marketing tool though if anyone has any success stories then please do comment. I’d love to hear how you do it.

Likewise Facebook… my lovely nieces are all over it like a rash. Seems like it’s the first thing they’ve got to do in the morning before they brush their hair is check their wall for updates but again that just proves the point that Facebook is a ‘social’ network so if you plan to use it for marketing then it requires time set aside to interact with people and build relationships with them. Time that personally, I can’t afford to spend when I can be a lot more productive elsewhere.

Pinterest on the other hand as a social network is right up my street as a guy because I don’t have to waste a lot of time chatting back and forth with people when I have things I want to get done PLUS I get to put all my ‘boys toys’ out on my pin boards like big bass amps and guitars, cool gadgets and some quotes that made me laugh. I know Lisa just loves pinning..? well….whatever a girl pins! Hairstyles, nail creations, green smoothies, fashion and stuff like that. She’s practically addicted to it! This isn’t her by the way…!

Hello and welcome again.

Today is an absolutely gorgeous Spring day here in the UK, the cherry blossom is out and it’s just starting to fall from the trees….. onto the car Sad smile

Anyway, I hope you’re all pressing ahead with those 2012 plans we talked about here way back in January; how’s your progress matching up to your yearly goals? If you’ve not moved forward to where you want to be at this point, don’t despair…. just look at ‘em again, re-assess where you are, where you want to be, reset your goals and continue from here. There’s nothing wrong with stopping to take a breath, refocusing and restarting. The main thing is to finish.

Today, I want to explain to you about one of the easiest ways to start making some money online: blogging. The reason I want to talk about this is that if you’re new to Internet marketing, you can be overwhelmed by the amount of information that is out there but blogging is one of the easiest methods to set up and start earning money from relatively quickly.

I’ve just come across a new product by Stefan Dyke that explains the whole process from start to finish in a very comprehensive and easy to read format and what’s more it won’t cost you an arm and a leg.
