Is Social Media Marketing Doing Your Head In?
Does Social Media Marketing drive you up the wall?
Hi everyone, the title says it all doesn’t it?
We’re bombarded daily with the Social Media world and I don’t know about you but I’m finding it harder and harder to keep up with it all. This is supposed to be easy, right? But what I’m finding is that whilst a lot of these networks have enormous reach, it’s not that simple to just post some great content and have it all hooked up together and trust me when I say, you don’t want to be wasting time posting the same or similar things on every different social platform going. As someone once said, life is short and life is precious!
When you think about it, how many “friends” have you really got in life? You could probably count them on one possibly two hands, right? Yet when we come online, we are so pleased to boast about having hundreds if not thousands of friends on Facebook or Twitter. It really started off as a way to keep in touch with friends and family or to look up old school friends, but now it’s turned into this massive machine that can be used for marketing.
That has its good and bad sides because first and foremost, Facebook began as a social network and it’s not always easy to be mixing business with pleasure. For instance, your family and friends don’t necessarily want to share in your daily business activities. If you really want to do it right, then you’ll need to spend about a week categorising all your friends and family into separate lists being careful all the time that you don’t put someone into the wrong list. It could be a disaster if you were to post personal photos, for instance, to your client list! How embarrassing, would that be? And some of it can be out of your control if you get tagged by one of your friends dancing on the table, the worse for drink!
There are networks like LinkedIn which are somewhat more professional though you’ll find many people pretending like they’re the next Lord Sugar or Donald Trump, only to discover that they’re sending tweets to their LinkedIn profile about the fact that they work with idiots or like nothing more than getting plastered at the weekend! Fortunately, Twitter has now removed the function to stream tweets to your LinkedIn profile, but there are other ways of doing it so a few still slip through the net.
It’s all very well being connected to so many people these days but there are downsides. For instance, we now feel more obligated to stay in touch and to keep posting to our blogs, to forums, to our followers and to Facebook groups to which we belong. This is especially true if we’re trying to build an online business yet it’s vital that we use these social media platforms to build our Internet communities so how can people avoid embarrassing themselves when all they seem to do is share their most intimate details for all the world tom see?
You’ve got to be careful what you do and say online when you’re using the social side of the Internet for business or you may lose existing and potential clients. Of course, there are many tools out there that allow you to send tweets to Facebook, pin images from Pinterest or let your followers know whenever you publish a new blog post or upload a new YouTube video but it still needs managing by you.
There are at least 20 more ways of connecting your online marketing efforts to social networks than I’ve talked about here and Social Media Spiders Web from Sue Worthington shows you exactly how you can get everything hooked up and somewhat hassle-free. This is without doubt one of the most comprehensive social media marketing tutorials I have seen. She covers all the major networks such as Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Google+ to name but a few. Check out this fantastic multimedia course, you won’t be disappointed.
10 Ways You Can Skyrocket Online Sales By Harnessing The Amazing Power Of Pinterest As An Awesome Marketing Tool.
10 Awesome Tips To Skyrocket Online Sales With The Amazing Power Of Pinterest
Being an online marketer, you can probably identify with feeling overwhelmed sometimes in your efforts to drive traffic to your blogs and money sites. As good as social media is at achieving that goal, you still have to do the work of posting to Facebook, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn and YouTube. You also still have to keep your blog up to date and in amongst it all, make some money while you’re doing all this!
You could be forgiven for baulking at taking on yet another social network but honestly, Pinterest is definitely well worth the extra effort, especially if your business involves sell a product – and most of ours do!
So with that in mind, let’s see how you can use Pinterest to drive a massive amount of traffic to your online offers…
1. Get Your Customers and Subscribers Involved
Use everything you’ve got in terms of lists like your mailing list, your customer list and also contacts and fans you’ve built up in your social networks and encourage them to get active on your Pinterest boards. You can even invite them to become board contributors or run ‘pin it to win it’ contests. If you’re new to the social media scene, don’t feel left out because you have your own personal network of friends and family who would most probably love to support you given the opportunity.
If possible, get your loyal customers or fans to share videos or pictures of them actually using your product because that’s going to give you a much bigger choice of engaging and interesting images to put on your pinboards. You can take that one step further by telling subscribers that don’t even use Pinterest yet that you’d love to showcase their pictures if they send them in by pinning them to your boards.
2. Keep Your Boards Tightly Themed
If you’ve already implemented #1 then your subscribers are going to know exactly where you can be found on Pinterest so you should keep up that momentum by engaging with them and the best way to do that is by creating narrowly-themed boards so they know what you’re about and to keep their interest fresh.
If your product is physical such as jewelry or clothing, you could ask your followers to send you pictures of them sporting your products in front of famous places or landmarks. For online stores in the home décor and design niches, ask your followers if they’ll share their design flair and show off the room they transformed using your products. Most people love to be recognized for what they do so you should have no problem getting submissions.
3. A Look Behind The Scenes
People are naturally inquisitive and like to know how things are made and how things are done away from the public eye. It could be the evolution of some new product from idea to manufacture or fly-on-the-wall type documentaries.
In the case of an online marketer, it could be an over-the-shoulder look at what you do to make your living online or of your employees working on the latest project but it’s often a good idea to show your Pinterest followers what’s happening on a typical day inside your business and a little insight into the faces who keep it going.
4. Recycle Content That You’ve Already Created
You don’t want to waste that most precious of commodities, time and you can save a whole bunch of it by simply pinning to your boards, videos and images that you already have. Re-use the photos on your blogs and websites or those that you took at your latest outing, vacation or wherever and are probably stored on your hard drive right now just waiting to be pinned.
You could easily create a board that showcases your brand by displaying images of the history of your business as it evolved perhaps from a part-time hobby to the business it is today and you could pin photos of all your past product creations to demonstrate just how far you’ve come and how much you’ve grown in that time.

5. Personally Speaking…
Of all the social networks out there, Pinterest is probably one of, if not the most personal of them all so it’s a good idea to really take the time to introduce yourself to your followers so they can see who is behind the pins. Share some details about yourself such as your name, what you do in your company as people respond well if they feel they know you. Remind your followers that there’s more to your business than just selling a product.
6. Collaborate With Other Marketers
You can easily multiply your sales, without doubling your efforts, by collaborating with other marketers to cross-promote each others products on Pinterest. Competition is a good thing so find similar businesses that maybe share your target niche, but not your actual product and give them space on your Pinterest boards to advertise their products in return for space on theirs to showcase yours. Again, create your boards thematically like interior design or you could just keep it wide open with a board of independent business you support.
7. Keep Your Followers Coming Back
Eventually it’s inevitable that you will run out of your own images to pin, even if you had hundreds of products so why now let your followers show off their own personal style by creating boards that are all about them. These could be photos highlighting their interests, their creativity or anything else you can think of that links back to the idea of your brand and your products. The aim is to keep the content of your Pinterest boards fresh and thus keep your followers returning on a regular basis to see what’s new.
8. Tracking Your Followers
Finding out what your followers do and tracking engagement on Pinterest isn’t as easy as on Facebook or Twitter, but there are ways you can find out the types of boards and the pins they find interesting and get excited about and when you know what pushes their buttons and more importantly, what doesn’t, it’s easier to give people exactly what they want. Find the hungry market and feed them.
9. Link Properly
Surprisingly, a lot of businesses on Pinterest actually forget to link directly to the product they’re trying to sell. You click on the image and it doesn’t take you to the product sales page. That is just plain crazy because if someone is browsing your boards and sees a must-have product, you have to make it as simple as possible for them to buy that product immediately. If you put obstacles in the way, you can easily lose a sale. Be sure to add a link to that product in the pin description and test it works.
10. Don’t Oversell
People like to feel they’re in control when they choose to buy a product. They do not want to be sold to. The way to help people feel like they are in control is to simply engage with them and show or demonstrate to them what you’re offering. Once they see the value of what you have to offer and decide to buy, send them to your sales or order page and in most cases, especially for physical products, don’t forget to put prices on your product pins as they’re more likely to be found by new customers who are searching the Gifts section on Pinterest.

NonstoPinterest 2.0 Launches December 14
Ultimate Pinterest Marketing Training – NonstoPinterest 2.0

Hello everyone and today I’m happy to announce that after many, many months Lisa Hernandez and I have finally come to the end of our latest project on marketing with Pinterest. It’s been many months in the making and we’ve put a lot of effort into researching the subject thoroughly so we can provide the best quality content for our customers.
There have been many changes at Pinterest since we started on version 2 back at the end of April this year and we’ve been very careful to try and include them all so that the product is completely up to date when we release it on Friday next week. By far and away, the most important change has been the introduction of business accounts to Pinterest in November.
The company founders have been wrestling with this issue for about a year now and thankfully have come to what we believe is the right decision to allow businesses to brand themselves on the Pinterest site. One thing to be aware of, is if you currently have a personal account that you are using commercially, then you really should convert your account to a business account as soon as possible.
NonstoPinterest 2.0 will be launched next Friday at noon EST and will be available at a special launch price of just $14.97 and for that, here’s what you get:
- as social media marketing report.
- A very comprehensive 74, page PDF e-book on how to set up your business Pinterest and run your account.
- A huge amount of step-by-step videos covering the basics through to advanced techniques and marketing strategies.
- Access to a private Facebook group.
- Checklists.
- Mind map.
- Workbook
- training videos on how to use gimp to create infographics, which are red hot right now.
- And other unannounced bonuses.
You can grab this at the special launch price for one week only by going to NonstoPinterest.com when the product launches or if you’d like to get on the early bird list now, you can go to that address immediately and register your interest by signing up to our early bird list.
This launch is going to be HUGE! We have several well-known affiliates on-board so we expect this to do very well. We intend to keep adding to the product and will be opening a membership site at the same time called Pinner Circle and in that site, will be discussing one aspect of marketing with Pinterest or other social media channels each month, so this isn’t just the launch that will be here and then gone. We intend to keep adding content and discussing different strategies as Pinterest evolves as one of the top social networks.
We hope to see you there, thanks for listening!
